Lita Rossana Ford was a British-born American guitarist, vocalist and music writer. The latter half of the 1970s she played as the lead guitarist for the hard-rocking All-girl group The Runaways. The group did not have any fans in the United States. However, their fame grew internationally, particularly in Japan. Ford's solo career in heavy metal was successful after the 1979 group break-up. She took vocal lessons and then released her debut solo album , 'Out For Blood' followed by 'Dancin' on the Edge. Ford did not achieve any success with either record and remained out of the realm of rock for around an entire decade. In 1988, she came back to the scene by releasing a dazzling album titled "Lita. Kiss Me Deadly was a major hit, along with the ballads Close My Eyes Forever and Kiss Me Deadly. Her success was unfortunately not long-lasting and, for a few additional years she was absent. Her release of Black in 1995 was followed by a fifteen-year delay for the album 'Wicked Wonderland. 2016 saw the release of her most recent album of studio work "Time Capsule". Guitar Player Magazine has awarded her The Certified Guitar Legend Award.
