Lita Rossana Ford (also also known in the form of Lita Ford) is a British born American guitar vocalist who played the role of lead singer for The Runaways a female hard rock band in the 70s. They gained attention by their raunchy lyrics and punkish style. The group was not able to gain a lot of attention in their home country of the United States but earned huge recognition abroad, particularly in Japan. Ford was able to enjoy a long and prosperous career as a solo heavy metal performer after the band split from 1979. Her debut solo album was 'Dancin' On the Edge and was followed by the record Out for Blood. Ford disappeared for a few years from the music scene following the albums' failure to get much attention. The hit album "Lita" was launched by Ford in 1988. Both the song "Kiss Me Deadly" as well as the ballad "Close My Eyes Forever" were huge hits.
